"Changing Seasons" by cake YTPMV, april 2, 2024 |
(added july 22, 2024) let's answer the question asked on the thumbnail- what the hell IS a YTPMV? pretty straightforward, it's a subgenre of YTP, but instead of clips being edited for comedic effect, they're edited together to sound like a song. that being said, this is one of, if not the very finest YTPMV i've ever seen. it's a cover of changing seasons from persona 3, but it has a different vibe than, and even surpasses the original in my eyes. the samples seamlessly work together, and if it weren't for the abnormal lyrics, i would've forgotten that it was a YTPMV i was listening to. my favourite part is the one where travis from no more heroes is speaking, the sample just works so well, i keep getting that part stuck in my head. now, what completely sold me on this was just how much EYE CANDY this thing is. it was so peak that i had to send this video to multiple people asap (after rewatching it several times myself, that is!). it takes inspiration from persona 3's opening for some of its visuals, but with it's own colourful spin on things. the beginning consists of many words and phrases related to persona 3 and it's themes of death and existentialism, displayed artistically alongside YTP-related imagery in a very striking and surreal manner. it... really captivated me, i recommend you experience it for yourself as well. after the intro, the lyrics flash on screen in stylish ways, the video clips dance with their respective samples, the backgrounds seal the aesthetic perfectly, and the occasional hand-drawn details provide a fun flair. there's so, SO many moving parts, but everything comes across as intentional and harmonious. your eyes will always have somewhere to look. i want to take the editor out to a steak dinner. cake has also made another persona YTPMV, being a cover of when the moon's reaching out stars, which i discovered around the same time as this one, and it's just as good. i was going to leave it out for the sake of just focusing on this one, but consider it a bonus inclusion- you can check it out here. dripping with evident effort, creativity, and pizazz, this is truly a feast for the senses. fullscreen recommended. |
